Zac Efron fans get ready. The former High School Musical skinny boy is set to impress in the upcoming motion picture version of the classic ‘80’s Baywatch TV series. Zach plays the role of brash new recruit Matt Brody. He plays opposite Dwayne Johnson, who takes on the role of Mitch Buchannon.

This guy has been around the bodybuilding / weight training scene at the very highest level since he was a teenager. He knows what hard-assed quality training looks like.

 

Not only has the Rock been training along with Efron, he’s been pushing him to produce results that are simply outstanding. In a recent impromptu one-on-one challenge on the beach set recently, the Rock challenged Efron to a Pull Up challenge.
Zac and the rockThe rules were simple; first one to get to 100 reps was the winner. Johnson thought he had it in the bag. After all, how could any mere mortal pound out 100 reps of pull ups? Knowing that he was beyond mortal, the Rock proceeded to rep out. His first set took him to 25. He felt confident.

 

Looking across, however, Dwayne was surprised to see that Zac had kept pace with him, rep for rep. The same thing happened on the next set of 20 . . . and the next . . . and the next.

 

Looking across in bewilderment, the Rock yelled out, “What’s got into you, kid?”

In reply, Zac sai, with a smirk on his face, “Time to go down, old man.”

In the end, the Rock took it out by a single rep.

That’s right  . . . Zach had pounded out 99 reps of chin ups!

I did 100 (over hand & wide grip) pull ups and @zacefron did 99. Valiant effort from the kid, but the OG pulled thru. For now, until he dusts me in the speed round. Us #BAYWATCH lifeguards take our jobs extremely serious and we’re the best of the best. We’re also slightly f*cked up and dysfunctional.
